Hello friends, goodbye to the old life

*Typing this up late and will likely not edit it. Pls excuse the poor grammar and sentence structure. I spent a lot of today writing (a fun personal project) and will likely use too many commas in this :P*

I'm lying down in bed as I prepare to write this. It has been six months since I moved to New York City to start my life; as I think it should be lived. I fear writing this, knowing it has been long delayed and my absence in the group long unexplained.

First of all, hello friends. It has been a while. There's so much I want to say and it'll take a few posts to really share my words of gratitude. EN 502 has changed my life. Each and every one of you in this blog has changed my life. I never knew I was a writer until this class told me I was a writer -- and now I am nothing but a writer. I'm a full-time journalist and I write every day as part of my job! Words have become my tool for success and no other tool fits in my hands properly anymore. This is all to say, thank you. Thank you for being open, willing, and able to speak on what you care about in class and making it a point to listen to what others had to say. This is a self-declaration: I am a writer and so are you.

A lot has happened since we last spoke. I graduated -- as did many of you -- and left what I call the 'old life' behind in Boston, Massachusetts. I didn't venture far, opting to go to another northeast city. But this is where I'm supposed to be. My life is now beginning; not my new life, but my life as I believe it was intended to be. I'm learning about balance, to have time for myself and for others within the confines of a job. It hasn't been easy but it has been fun. I live with the person I love and the ease at which we've handled this commitment has been indicative of the healthy stability I've longed for. We don't encroach, we understand, and we leave room to breathe.

There's more, a lot more, I would like to write about here. It's late and I'm tired, but I want to make this blog a routine for me. I'm working on a writing project that I can't wait to share with the world, but it's going to take time. I might add snippets and text analyses of some of the writing I'm producing. And I'm also looking forward to reading everyone else's posts too. You are all my inspiration.

So hello friends, this is goodbye to the old life, and on to the next.
